Everything old is new again
You all know the Canadian penny is now officially being pulled out of service. When was the last time you pinched a pennie’s butt anyway? But our little Canadian Mint up there in Ottawa is still busy and on a roll – a roll of quarters that is! These industrious public servants have now created funky new quarters with a “stylized dinosaur artwork” design on them that have a special glow in the dark feature! Wow, did we have to ask the Queen to actually CHANGE THAT?
Yes folks, the Mint has created its first glow-in-the-dark coin, a quarter featuring a dinosaur discovered near Grand Prairie, Alberta in 1973.
Can you say this name even slowly? Pachyrhinosaurus lakustai dinosaur? Our little “Dino -Quarter” is named after Al Lakusta, the man who stumbled on its bones in the Pipestone Creek bone bed.
Now when your front door lights are out and you are stumbling in at 3 AM, your glowing quarter becomes a flashlight, imagine that? I am sure we can find other amazing uses for this little baby.
I forgot to mention this is an URGENT PURCHASE and why? Because wisely, the Mint is only making a limited number of these coins – 25,000 and that’s it. Thankfully, our Mint plans to release three more glow-in-the-dark coins featuring prehistoric creatures.
Canucks, go Walmart crazy and get your orders in soon!
Now here is the kicker. While the quarters have a face value of 25 cents, they will be sold at Canada Post locations for $29.95. Do I smell a little MINT scam here ?
Please see our story of “Canadian Funny Money” right here on our site. We used to be the “Bird Money People”.
So ya like this fancy coin? I’ll bet you like the fancy price tag too. Any yahoo can see it’s a slam dunk, no- brainer “Collector’s item!”
Me, I’m out to Canada Post post haste, to get me some “Dino” coin.
